Rationality and irrationality from the perspective of Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT)

In this lecture, the characteristics and form of both rational and irrational beliefs as conceptualized by Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT) will be outlined. In particular I will show how holding irrational beliefs will lead to psychological disturbance in the face of adversity and how holding rational beliefs will lead to a psychologically healthy response to the same adversity. I will show how people can change their irrational beliefs to rational beliefs and why they may be reluctant to do so.
