VSPA

The VSPA is the student association at the psychology department of the University of Amsterdam (UvA). With over 2000 members, it is one of the biggest student associations at a university department in the Netherlands.

The VSPA's aim is to support psychology students at the UvA in their acadamic and social development during their academic years. Common activities organized by active members are a first-years' weekend, study trips, excursions, lectures, music evenings and parties. The VSPA also provides students with affordable textbooks by retailing themself.

A big annual aim is an international scientific conference which is accessible for students. In the past few years we explored subjects such as "Autism", "Love and Sex", "Language", "the Self", and "Fear and Anxiety". Among the speakers who attended previous conferences were Geoffrey Miller, Ray Jackendoff, Daniel Dennett, Nico Frijda and Thomas Metzinger.

This years' conference is on the Psychology of Religion and hopefully it will be as succesfull as previous conferences.
